Cedar is Hardy Fence's choice for a wood fence. Properly finished with our one of our commercial line sealers, your cedar fence will last for decades. Cedar fence has many unique qualities that make it a superior product. First, it is twice as stable as spruce and pine. This stability is due to cedar's low shrinkage factor. When wood expands and contracts, its protective coating or finish tends to be compromised, allowing moisture to penetrate the wood's surface. When wood is saturated with water, it tends to loose natural acids that protect it from decay and insect infestation. Cedar's stability allows it to have a much longer life than spruce, pine, or even treated wood.

If that's not enough to show you that cedar is the best option, then you should know that cedar fences naturally deter termites and other wood-boring insects. In fact "Western Red Cedar" is extremely toxic to termites. This is especially important since many wood fences will have at least a couple of contact points to your home, and we all know how much damage termites can cause and how costly it is to treat a termite infestation.
